A hands-on workshop in Accelerated Log Building
the patent-pending new method by Robert Chambers
will be held immediately before the 2001 Kananaskis Conference.
The workshop, taught by Robert Chambers, will
cover what you need to know to build with the Accelerated
method. It will be five days long, April 1st through 5th,
and will be held at Lloyd Beckedorf's building yard, Moose
Mountain Log Homes, in Cochrane, Alberta.
Accelerated
log building is the new way to build full-scribe log buildings.
Known as the "stack-scribe-cut" method, it is 30%
more efficient (or more) than the traditional one-log-at-a-time
methods to build the same shell. It is also safer, since all
cutting can be done on the ground. Even Beckedorf, "double-cut"
or "double-scribed" long grooves can be completely
cut on the groundthis has to be seen to be believed.
Brooks Minde, of Minde Handcrafted Log Homes,
Inc, has built several shells with the new method and says:
"I hope you don't try the Accelerated Method because
then my company will have an incredible advantage over your
company. The Accelerated Method is beautiful in its simplicity."
This
Accelerated Workshop is open only to professional log home
builders, and will cover accelerated basics, building with
openings, floor joists, sill logs, log selection in accelerated
buildings, controlling the widest gap, dealing with complex
floorplans, scaffolding, drilling holes, and more. A detailed
step-by-step workbook will be provided to all workshop participants.
The shell produced at this workshop will be
sold by the Association to help fund our activities. Contact
Cathy at 800-532-2900 or email info@logassociation.org
for information on buying the shell.
